Mahasenpura Primary School - Welikanda, Sri Lanka

Mahasenpura Primary School, located in the city of Polonnaruwa, North Central Province of Sri Lanka, is a school where the water filter had broken down from any years of use, and students and families were left to find water elsewhere, being forced to travel farther distances just to get to clean water. 

We funded the installation of the water filter at this primary school on June 10th, 2024. It was around 82,000 LKR, or $271.71 USD. This water filter is incredibly important to provide clean drinking water to the 160 students in grades 1-5 at the school, and for the 140 families in the local village. The old water filter had suffered from issues for 7 years, since 2021. Ever since the filter broke, students had been having to bring water from home. ​

The principal of this school stated in a interview with us that, "When kids come up to me and say 'Sir I ran out of water' I feel helpless." 

We are so happy to be able to provide a simple neccesity to these children and families.
